Prix de I’lle-de-France Sunday
The Grade I UET International Masters Series returns Sunday February 3 to Hippodrome Paris-Vincennes in the form of the classic monte Prix de I’lle-de-France, carrying a purse of 200,000 euros over the 2,175 meter distance (1-3/8 miles). The 10 horse field (for 5-10 year old stallions and mares) is led by Prix de Cornulier winner Singalo, ridden by David Thomain, for breeder/owner/trainer Louis Baudron. The winner of over 1 million euros is a 7 year-old stallion by super-sire Goetmals Wood from Ingala, an outstanding FR maternal family also active in the US via $300,000 plus winner Lorenzo Dream.
Singalo, with two wins and a third in his last four monte appearances, will face formidable challengers including Quarry Bay and Ms. Camille Levesque, a close second in the Prix de Cornulier, Lover Power (Supergill mare from Italy and winner of her last monte start), and the veteran FR monte stalwart Quif de Villeneuve trained by Franck Leblanc.
The Sunday card also includes the Grade III Prix Indienne, a 90,000 euro monte event over 2,175 meters. This group of 5-6 year-olds is led by the Franck Nivard ridden Titus de Baffais and Travel Jet, to be ridden by Eric Raffin for owner/trainer Jean-Etienne Dubois.
